From a USB pen drive or USB HDD

When you insert a USB pen drive or USB HDD into any of the USB sockets, the ENCORE will automatically copy the music files contained on that device to its internal HDD.

You will see status displays appearing (like image below) on the ENCOREs screen telling you what function it is currently performing.

After the audio files have been copied to the ENCOREs UPLOAD folder, they then need to go through the ENCOREs standard metadata/artwork checking process.

The standard metadata/artwork check will automatically add any missing metadata or artwork if the ‘Clean up audio file’ and ‘Use audio fingerprinting’ tabs in the Advanced>Library section of the web browser are activated. This is set to ‘ON’ as standard, and the process will take time to execute.

The time taken is dependent on the amount of data transferring from the USB device, and the data it needs to find so please be patient. It is entirely possible with some files that the database which the ENCORE checks (www.MusicBrainz.org) does not have any reference to the file/s and therefore no extra data will be returned.

If you wish to speed this process up, ensure that the ‘Use audio fingerprinting’ tag is unchecked and applied before you insert the USB device. Note that this may cause some audio files to have incomplete metadata or artworks.

Once the data has progressed through the data checking sequence it will then show in your ‘My Music’ folder the same as all of your other music.

You can then play these music files in the same way as all your other music on the ENCORE.

You cannot play the files directly from a USB device.

The ENCOREs USB sockets are electrically active and can charge your phone/tablet/portable USB device.
