How to back up your ENCORE’s music files via a PC

As with all digital information it is always best to have a backup version stored on another drive somewhere else should anything happen to your content. This can be either onto an external HDD, N.A.S drive, off site or in the Cloud.

To back up the music files on your ENCORE’s HDD, is a simple process.

On a PC you can make a quick access link to your ENCORE’s music files by following this sequence...

Go to file explorer > Computer

You can now directly access your ENCORE’s music files by clicking within the directory tree

If you have multiple ENCORE’s on your network, rather than type \\encore.local\music into the folder box you can directly type the specific ENCORE you wish to backup into the box. It should look something like this... \\m6encore-xxxxxx\music

To find the xxxxx in the sequence you need to get this from the ENCORE by going to the relevant unit and pressing home > settings > advanced > encore information > musical fidelity encore server and the xxxxx info will be displayed under HOST NAME.

Now when you enter this folder via the PC you can highlight the folders/tracks you wish to backup, and copy/paste them into your backup folder/destination.

Alternativley, if you have your source and destination folders both open on your desktop you can drag the selected items from your ENCORE’s MUSIC folder and drop them into the destination folder.

Please ensure that your network, PC/Laptop and ENCORE are all left running during this backup process as it will take time for the transfer to happen. The time taken will be dependant on the total size of all the files being backed up, your internal network speed, and if other data is being moved/streamed on the network at the same time.
